👀 Reddit’s Short Squeeze for the Ages

Flashbacks to 2021, anyone?

r/WallStreetBets has pulled off a short squeeze on Kohl’s $KSS ( ▼ 2.27% ) reminiscent of GameStop’s run four years ago—and meme stock season may just be beginning.

Kohl’s and Opendoor $OPEN ( ▼ 11.05% ) started it with gains of 90% and 207% respectively, but Krispy Kreme $DNUT ( ▼ 3.05% ) and GoPro $GPRO ( ▼ 2.38% ) took things over from there. The doughnut frier jumped 27% and the maker of cameras for overly adventurous people saw 60% gains.

📉 The Mighty Dollar’s Downfall Boosts Mag 7

Dollar value go down, stocks go up. Simple.

The US dollar has weakened significantly in 2025, unlike the market’s appetite for growth stocks. Down 7% since January, the USA’s weakening currency appears to be creating a pretty big tailwind for multinational corporations.

Why does a lower dollar mean good things for Magnificent 7 stocks like $GOOGL ( ▼ 1.12% )? BEcause a lower dollar means higher overseas revenue on earnings reports (because math).

With 83% of S&P 500 companies already beating Q2 expectations, Goldman Sachs estimates that every 10% decline in the dollar’s value translates to 2-3% higher earnings per share for the index.

And what you need to know is that the Magnificent 7 tech giants particularly stand to benefit substantially from earnings this week because of that.

💰 Blackstone Exits TikTok US Acquisition Consortium

Investment giant Blackstone is no longer interested in acquiring TikTok and has exited consortium bidding for the company. Wonder if they’re more of an Instagram-Reels-type company.

In all seriousness, regulatory questions and tariff uncertainty could have played a role in the decision to back out—or Bwackwock might just be scawwed.

The deadline for ByteDance to sell TikTok's US business has been repeatedly postponed, and the TikTok deal has become further mixed up in broader US-China trade talks, just like the Christmas decorations I need to order.

The exit of a major financial player from the deal could mean the team is having trouble evaluating the social media platform’s worth.

🤑 Trump Media Goes Hard Into Bitcoin

President Trump's media company $DJT ( ▼ 2.01% ) has followed through on its plans of obtaining a Bitcoin treasury—but no one thought it would be this drastic.

$DJT bought $2 billion in BTC—which means cryptocurrency now comprises two-thirds of the company's $3 billion in assets. That ratio is like, what I’d expect of a random Crypto Twitter trader, not the President’s company.

This bitcoin treasury approach, of course, follows a strategy pioneered by Michael Saylor's Strategy—but we’ll see how it actually performs long term The main criticism against such companies is that they aren’t differentiated from one another in their value proposition as Bitcoin holders. The second criticism is… why buy a Bitcoin treasury stock when I can buy Bitcoin?
