🐴 Ethereum and Bitcoin Jockey for Investor $$$

What a week of headlines for the crypto market. It started with Ethereum waking up and dusting off massive price break points as it rose to $4,200, then $4,300, then $4,700…

In the wake of ETH’s monster run, Bitcoin’s dominance of the crypto market fell below 60% for the first time since February. Altcoin traders know that when BTC’s dominance falls, it means altseason may be near—and true to form, $ETH jumped 19%, $SOL rose 15%, and $LINK gained 24%.

But Bitcoin had the last laugh, reaching a new all-time high of $124,000 before quickly sinking back below $119,000. Its market cap was larger than Alphabet’s for a moment, much to CEO Sundar Pichai’s chagrin (or maybe not, if he owns some BTC… But as of 2021, he did not).

⚡️ The Tech Ticker

  • Tesla posted an Autopilot test-driver role in Queens, gathering eight-hour-a-day city data with rumored plans to extend its robotaxi service into New York.

  • Banks are shifting from rivalry to collaboration with niche software vendors like Toast, which earned 82% of revenue from financial services.

  • Taiwan sounded the alarm over possible US Section 232 semiconductor tariffs, arguing new national-security duties would strain a fragile chip supply chain.

  • Oracle cut 161 Seattle jobs as part of cloud Infrastructure layoffs, hitting data-center and AI teams as the firm balances scale spending with cost control.

💸 Woe to the Anxious Consumer's Digital Wallet

Retail investors are back in the driver’s seat, sending trading platforms like Robinhood, Interactive Brokers, and Coinbase soaring as margin debt crosses the $1 trillion mark for the first time. And the fact that many traders are upset about Robinhood only giving them one share of $FIG in its IPO hasn’t stopped $HOOD’s market cap from reaching a $100 billion market cap. The risk appetite is back, and the warning lights are flashing: 91% of money managers now say US stocks are overvalued, but few seem to care.

And all that risk buying adds up: lawsuits against payment platforms like Zelle are taking off, with New York’s Attorney General targeting the company for alleged security failures that left users exposed to scams.

Meanwhile, traditionally low-tech industries like food service are trying to find their footing in this brave new world. Chili’s still exists, apparently, and has mounted an impressive comeback this year, fueled by AI optimization. Chipotle and Cava are pouring money into kitchen automation to keep up. The modern consumer is speculative, security-obsessed, and always hunting for a deal, creating a landscape where investors can profit by backing the platforms and services that cater to cost convenience.
